Curriculum

At BDSIS, Kharghar, we offer an 'enriched curriculum' that goes beyond the textbook and the classroom to provide a 360-degree perspective on any subject. The result is a skill-based learning program that empowers students to apply, analyze, evaluate, and create using the knowledge they gain.

Our curriculum reflects contemporary thinking about what students need to lead successful and fulfilling lives. It’s designed to be flexible and adaptable, factoring in the curriculum frameworks of various Boards and recognizing the cultural backgrounds of our students. Despite differences in Board requirements, the fundamental goals of education remain the same worldwide.

At BDSIS, Kharghar, we offer a diverse set of specialist subjects that evolve with future of work trends. Each offers opportunities to unlock a world of possibilities, and we introduce them from an early age, equipping students with practical skills for their future.

Step & Learn
This Finland-based program continues in Primary school, where students engage in more complex, movement-based tasks that integrate with advanced STEAM concepts. This helps them alleviate stress, stay focused, and build confidence while reinforcing their grasp of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

BD-K Radio
Our in-house radio station offers a vibrant platform for media exploration, giving students hands-on experience with scripting, broadcasting, and production. This helps develop communication skills, confidence, and creativity while introducing them to podcasting, YouTube and content creation.

Financial Literacy [from Grade 3]
Our financial literacy program introduces students to essential concepts like saving, budgeting, and responsible spending. This prepares them for real-world financial responsibilities and helps them make informed decisions as they grow.

Makers Lab
The Makers Lab introduces students to Robotics and Artificial Intelligence with hands-on learning. It supports the STEAM curriculum, project-based learning, and habits of mind. This early exposure helps develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity, laying the groundwork for future technological innovation.

ICT 360
ICT 360 is a comprehensive program that covers digital literacy. Students learn to use technology responsibly. They are introduced to evolving concepts like AI far beyond the surface to give them a deeper, critical understanding of the future of work that awaits.

Art and Creativity

Art
Art education nurtures creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking. Students explore various mediums such as painting, sculpting, and drawing. Art also integrates other disciplines, like maths, giving them a hands-on understanding of concepts such as measurements and proportions.

Herb Garden
The herb garden allows students a tiny glimpse into where our food comes from and how it grows. Students learn about plant biology and the urgency for sustainability. This hands-on experience makes them mindful of our environment and fosters a deeper connection to nature.

Pottery Studio
In our pottery studio, students develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and a lot of patience. Pottery also integrates mathematical concepts such as measurements and proportions.

Cultural and Artistic Excellence

Dance (Bharatnatyam)
Bharatnatyam lessons teach discipline, grace, and cultural appreciation. Students learn intricate movements, expressions, and a deeper understanding of our Indian heritage.

Music (Indian & Western Vocal)
Our music program covers Indian and Western vocal traditions to give students a broad musical education and set the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of music.

Speech and Drama
Our speech and drama classes foster creative expression. They help students develop essential communication skills, build confidence, and contribute to their personal growth both socially and academically.

Sports

Sports play a crucial role in the Primary curriculum, building physical fitness while developing character traits that serve them well in all aspects of life. Students participate in Football, Basketball, Cricket, Chess, Taekwondo, and Physical Education (PE). Swimming will be introduced in the academic year 2026-2027.
